Historical Photograph Relocation

HISTORICAL PHOTOGRAPH RELOCATION

Management Objectives:
To trace the historic changes in Santa Catalina Island's plant communities in order to elucidate their ecological relationships and trends with respect to land use. To educate the public on these issues.

Methods:
Historic photographs have been obtained from Conservancy archives, Santa Catalina Island Company files, Soil Conservation Service files, and the UCLA Aerial Photo Archives. Additional photos are available through the Huntington Library, old postcards, and publications. The origin of these photographs will be relocated in the field, permanently marked and mapped, and retaken for comparison and analysis.
