James H. Ackerman Native Plant Nursery
The primary focus of the native plant nursery is to provide plant and seed material for the Conservancy's plant conservation and restoration projects.
Middle Ranch Hayfield Restoration
Eighty acres of abandoned hayfields in Middle Canyon are currently being restored to native plant communities.
Rare and Endangered Plant Species
The management of rare and endangered plants includes documenting their locations on the island, establishing populations in new areas, and providing protection from the factors responsible for their endangerment.
Plant Monitoring
Plant or vegetation monitoring is the acquisition of information to assess the health, status, and trends of plant populations and communities and their broader ecological systems over time, for the purpose of assessing and directing management activities.
Invasive Plant Management Plan
The control of invasive plant species is the largest and most long-term conservation management challenge facing the Catalina Island Conservancy. It is vital to understand which species pose the greatest threat so that limited resources can be used to provide the most effective and efficient control.
