| Do you want anyone else added to this
e-newsletter? |
If there is anyone else in your yacht club that will be helping you encourage members to attend or to obtain auction prizes and they do not get this newsletter, please let me know their name and
e-mail and I'll add them.
You all should have received an information packet!
The packets were handed or mailed to you and contain the latest Conservancy Times, our last Annual Report, Sponsor Forms, and Auction Item Donation Forms. If for some reason you don't have yours or need another, just e-mail or call me.
My phone and e-mail are listed below.
Boaters had better look out for boots at the Ball
Steve Deming, a member of the Catalina Caballeros is doing a great job of rounding up other members of the support group to attend the Ball. In addition, he is a member of the western riding club, Los Caballeros, and is including them in his appeal.

| Hi Leslie
Here is the latest update for you and all the other great yacht club liaisons who are helping us with the 2008 Conservancy Ball. Things are moving along -- suddenly very fast. |
| Another Yacht Club Provides Liaisons |
|
We are very pleased that five members of the Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club are the latest to become liaisons for the 2008 Conservancy Ball. They join our other 'southern' yacht clubs - Balboa, Catalina Island, Cherry Cove, Coronado, Dana Point, Newport Harbor and San Diego Yacht Clubs.
Our 'northern' group consists of Blue Water Cruising Club and California, Corsair, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and Seal Beach Yacht Clubs.
We could not do it without you all! |
| Auction Items Needed Soon |
|
We are hoping that your help in obtaining auction items for the Ball is paying off.
The silent and live auctions provide a major portion of the proceeds that come from the Ball.
I'll be contacting you to see how this is going. You have copies of the auction item donation form in the packet we gave you. You can photocopy them or ask me for more.
Part of our concern is getting everything into the auction program - so the sooner we have items, the better. The Conservancy has storage space in its Long Beach office so we can pick up the items from you if it will help.
And don't forget that $100 to $500 items often go for more than their stated value -- so don't only go for the big ticket items.
We have 31 liaisons working with us so if each one could bring in three auction items, we'll be in great shape! |
| Go After Those Sponsorships |
|
|
Sponsorships are coming in, but please keep working on them since regular tickets go on sale on February 1st.
Anne Sacks at California Yacht Club leads the way with six sponsors from there, but I know of a couple of others out to beat her!
Here are what have come in:
$20,000 - one from San Diego YC
$10,000 - one from non-yacht club member
$5,000 - one from California YC, one from Corsair YC, and one from Newport Harbor YC
$1,500 - five from Balboa YC, five from California YC, three from Santa Barbara YC, three from non-yacht club members, two from Dana West YC, one from San Diego YC, and one from St. Francis YC.
(I know there are sponsors who belong to more than one yacht club, but we have either used the yacht club they have indicated or what appears to be their principal club.)
