Catalina Film Festival
September 24 - 28

Last year's Catalina Film Festival was bigger than ever with industry workshops, receptions and parties, award ceremonies and, of course, lots of film screenings in numerous categories. This annual competitive festival includes awards in up to 10 categories, including the Isla Earth Award, recognizing an outstanding environmental documentary, presented by the Catalina Island Conservancy.

Las Caballeras Catalina Ride

Las Caballeras celebrate their 20th annual ride with a week of camping, camaraderie and cowgirl fun. Las Caballeras are all enthusiastic members of the Catalina Island Conservancy.

4th Annual Catalina: The Wild Side Art Show & Sale
Sunday, October 26
Newport Harbor Yacht Club
A passion for Catalina Island and plein air art come together to create an extraordinary afternoon. The show features 10 nationally acclaimed plein air artists, who will display their interpretations of Catalina's rugged wildlands and scenic beauty. Proceeds from the sale of these unique paintings support the growth of a permanent collection of plein air artwork that documents the Island's "wild side" and the Catalina Island Conservancy's restoration efforts.

Catalina Island Eco-Marathon & Half Marathon
Eco MarathonSaturday, November 8
Runner’s World rates the Catalina Eco-Marathon as the Best Island Run,” because it travels through an otherworldly place where, the magazine notes, “you can see buffalo, bald eagles, seals and palm trees during a single run.” The Eco-Marathon course travels through three distinct ecosystems via trails and soft dirt roads. Runners traverse single-track trails, ridgelines, and vistas that afford views of the Pacific Ocean from both sides of the Island.

Avalon Harbor Underwater Cleanup

The Avalon Harbor Underwater Cleanup is an annual dive event held at Avalon Harbor on Catalina Island. The event was started in the 1970s by the local dive community in an effort to cleanup Avalon Harbor, and this event is the only time diving is permitted in the Harbor. Over the years, this event has grown to become one of the most popular dive events in Southern California.

MARATHON 
Saturday, March 14, 2015
This event will feature the exciting marathon course used historically on the Catalina Island Conservancy’s lands, including much of the rugged terrain, spectacular vistas and special challenges enjoyed by Hans Albrecht and friends in the earliest days of the event under his management. In November 2012, it was ranked #6 on weather.com’s “World’s 15 Toughest Marathons” list.
