FAMILIES IN NATURE

Families In Nature is an outreach initiative designed to enable Catalina resident families to gain access to nature based activities, and to have what can be life-changing interpretive experiences at no cost to them.
Did you know that some participants who have lived on Catalina for as many as 20 years had never been into the interior of the Island prior to this program?

The Conservancy believes that the enjoyment of the interior by ALL residents is important for the well-being of the community and the Island’s future.  Support of this program will help create a well-informed community who understands and benefits from its native and rare natural surroundings, and who will want to protect and restore Catalina for generations to come.

Donations towards this program will help provide monthly day-long trips, consisting of 50-70 Avalon family members boarding a bus in Avalon accompanied by a bilingual naturalist and volunteers.  On-board presentations about the Island’s natural surroundings, including stops for interpretive activities and guided hikes,
allow participants to experience their Island home from its east to west ends. In 2013, more than 202 participants took advantage of the Families in Nature program.  Further support of this program will enable the Conservancy to provide meaningful experiences in nature for hundreds more families.

To make a donation in support of Families In Nature, note it on your check and mail it to: Catalina Island Conservancy, PO Box 2739, Avalon, CA 90704. Or specify your wishes in the special instructions box and donate online.
