Transportation on the Island

Upon arrival to Avalon, a representative from the Catalina Island Conservancy will meet you at the boat. You will be transported to the Laura Stein Volunteer Camp, located twenty minutes from town. Transportation will be provided to and from the work sites each day.

Once at the Volunteer Camp, the Conservancy does not provide transportation back and forth to Avalon except for arrival and departure days. Hiking into town is not recommended and hitchhiking is prohibited. Taxi service may be available in the evenings and the cost for a one-way trip between Avalon and the camp is approximately $40, with an additional fee for each passenger.
