It is vital to the Conservancy's mission that it helps local residents of Catalina create a sense of connection to the Island on which they live. As unbelievable as it may seem, a significant number of Islanders have never been outside the City Limits of Avalon.

We see the children on Catalina, in addition to those on the mainland, as the future stewards of the Island. It is critical  for them to learn about Catalina's fragile ecosystems, and understand the importance of keeping the wildlands wild. Our Education Department facilitates an array of programs including Kids in NatureIsland Scholars, Course Catalina and more to ensure that Catalina's unique nature lives on in generations to come.
