CATALINA ISLAND IS YOURS TO EXPLORE

Catalina Island is yours to explore; and the Conservancy is proud to offer many opportunities to recreate and experience the Island, once again.

We know you've been spending a lot of your time at home and are eager to explore! Your Island is waiting for you with enhanced safety  guidelines and procedures in light of COVID-19.

Below you can learn more about the guidelines that are in place at Conservancy locations, which are looking forward to welcoming you back!  We kindly ask that guests do their part to keep the Island community safe in return by adhering to all travel and recreation guidelines.

How will you explore Catalina Island?  Here are some ideas!

Trailhead Visitor Center- Now Open
  • Plan your adventure at the Trailhead visitor center in Avalon.  Now open daily from 8:30am - 5:30pm, for retail, hiking and biking permits, Eco Tours and more! Toyon Grill is open from 8am-4pm Wednesday-Sunday.
  • Visit this iconic landmark of Catalina Island featuring famed Catalina Tile, and the adjacent Botanic Graden, with collection of rare Channel Island species.

DC-3 Gifts & Grill- Now Open
  • DC-3 Gifts & Grill is located 1600 feet above sea level, with great food, incredible views, and friendly service.
  • DC-3 Gifts & Grill is now open from 8am - 5pm daily, and until 6:45pm on Saturdays. Food service will end at 4pm.

Campgrounds- Now Open
  • Camping Catalina Island is a wonderful way to enjoy Catalina's rugged beauty, with Conservancy campites: Parsons Landing, BlackJack and Little Harbor campgrounds waiting for your return!
  • To provide campers with peace of mind during camping trips, superior standards of cleanliness and care include limiting person-to-person contact, providing hand sanitizing stations throughout campgrounds and having floor markings on display in public areas to encourage social distancing.

Hiking Trails- Now Accessible
  • More than 165 miles of trails and roads beckon all levels of hikers.  Please see the new guidelines for hiking safely, below.
    • Hiking without a face mask is permitted except if you are within 6' of a non-family member or someone with whom you are not currently quarantining; appropriate social distancing is required.
    • Do not use the trails if you are exhibiting any symptoms.
    • Please follow all current LA County guidelines, found here.
    • Conservancy Rangers and LA County Baywatch remain on patrol across the Island.
