Thad and BZ Jones Hikes
In light of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the Conservancy has decided to postpone the Thad/BZ Jones hikes. Your safety and health are our top priority and the decision was made by our Executive Team after extensive consideration of World Health Organization, Centers for Disease Control, federal, state and county guidance.

An official email notification went out regarding other Conservancy events and program activities that are also postponed or canceled over the next 60 days. Please stay tuned for further communications as event and program updates are developed.

Join the Catalina Marineros for two great hikes on March 20 and 21, 2020.

Honoring brothers Thad and Graham "BZ" Jones, the late world-class sailors and dedicated Conservancy supporters, the two-day Thad Jones Trans-Catalina hike or the one-day BZ Jones Cross-Catalina hike will explore the Island's gorgeous terrain for a weekend of exploration, mixing and mingling. And new this year, the post-hike celebration dinner will take place at Conservancy's Trailhead visitor center prepared by Toyon Grill. ´╗┐We hope you can join us!

The Thad Jones 30-Mile Hike starts with boarding transportation in Avalon on Friday, March 20 to Emerald Bay. The trail leads East to Two Harbors where you can take a break for lunch, then onto Little Harbor via Banning House Road and spectacular single track ridge trails. Participants will camp overnight at Little Harbor and enjoy a BBQ dinner with fireside sing along.  The following day Thad Jones hikers will connect with the BZ Jones hikers for lunch, then finish the hike to the shore which concludes with a short boat trip back to Avalon.  Please note this is for experienced hikers.

The BZ
Jones Cross-Catalina Hike is a one-day hike which explores the Island's gorgeous terrain as hikers venture from the windward side of the Island to the leeward, meeting Thad Jones Hikers along the way.  This is a moderate 10 mile hike with a number of climbs taking participants along Skull Ridge Trail from Ben Weston Overlook to Haypress Reservoir.  After lunch at Haypress, hikers have the option of returning to Avalon in vans, or continuing on to Gallagher's Beach where boat transportation awaits.
